Updated Apr. 13, 2020
Dear ILA Students,

As you may know, Kyoto Prefecture has declared a state of emergency in response to the spread of the Coronavirus. Following this declaration, Doshisha University has announced that all courses will be offered via remote learning for the duration of the spring semester.

In addition, Doshisha University has closed all of its offices, including the libraries, from Monday, April 13th to Monday, May 11th. As such, ILA Students will not be permitted to enter university campuses. During this period, please make all inquiries to the ILA Office via email: ji-ila@mail.doshisha.ac.jp.

As a general rule, course lecturers have sent messages to the students registered for their courses via the DUET system. These messages include important information regarding how courses will be conducted for the first month of of classes. Please carefully check the messages for your courses.

Now that Doshisha University has required that all courses be offered via remote learning for the duration of the spring semester, it may become necessary for course lecturers to revise their course syllabi. Lecturers will inform students of changes to their course syllabi as changes become necessary. Doshisha University is planning to announce the dates for the course withdrawal period soon.

With many universities moving courses online for the spring semester, following a request from the national government, companies such as, NTT Docomo, KDDI, and Softbank have started offering additional data packages free of charge to students under the age of 25. Contact your internet provider for more details.
