Colin Davis, PhD ― Professor
Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Colin Davis completed a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours in Economics at Saint
Mary’s University. He then moved to Sapporo, Japan where he obtained an M.A. and a PhD in Economics at Hokkaido
University. He has now been living in Japan for just over twenty years.
As an economist, Colin Davis is interested in theoretical research on how the structure and geographic organization of
industry affect long-run economic growth. His research examines the relationships that arise between international
trade patterns, foreign direct investment, international outsourcing, and the growth of regional and aggregate
economies.

At Doshisha University, Colin Davis teaches courses on microeconomics, macroeconomics, economic growth and
international economics. His seminar courses emphasize the application of quantitative analysis to business and
economic issues.
